Statement for Giant Ink Drawings:

As many of us humans do, I have a lot of anger.
When I am feeling particularly murderous, what helps me the most is to take my anger directly out through my creative process.
One of my favorite ways to do this is to scribble madly with a marker.
Many of these drawings begin with a squiggle, and as I work faces and beings emerge. Structures and landscapes.

Faces full of longing and disdain, some contorted in agony, others grinning manically. The subject matter is not premeditated, and remains undetermined until the subject emerges. When it does, however, it is clear to me and those who know me that the drawings are dream-like interpretations of interpersonal relations in my life.

Relationships bring a lot of color to life. They can shape us, move us, infuriate, inspire and elate us.
Whether these relationships are with friends, lovers, spirits, or even the voices in our heads we are each constantly influenced by beings.
These drawings are inspired by my struggles and triumphs in recent relationships.

The chaotic  nature of these drawings accurately depicts the overwhelmed state I was in while making them.
